Is
it necessary to automate doors?
No it is not always necessary to have automatic doors, but in today’s customer oriented society there are real reasons and benefits to automate.
Accessibility
Ease of access for customers and staff, as we try to become more customer friendly, is an important motivating factor for automatic doors. Customers who have to struggle with a heavy manual door consider a building less customer friendly and consequently are more likely to visit premises’ with automatic doors.
Environmental Control
A manual door could
be left open for some time, until manually closed, releasing heated air and
energy into the outside atmosphere.
Automatic doors can help save energy costs by minimising the length of time
a door remains open that lets in cold air requiring reheating.
DDA Compliance
Perhaps the biggest piece of legislation ever to impact on our society in recent years is the Disability Discrimination Act. Employers and businesses, who are service providers, are now under legal obligation to ensure a disabled person has the same access to your services as an able bodied person.
One adjustment you can make to help be DDA compliant is to install automatic doors.
