Case Study - Ladbrokes don't gamble with security...

Overview

As a leading company in the gaming and betting industry, Ladbrokes have built their business on providing customers with an accessible, pleasant and safe gaming and betting experience.

With over 2,200 high street shops, Ladbrokes have invested heavily in technology to deliver a better customer experience, including in-shop plasma screens and gaming machines.

Over 12,000 staff keep Ladbrokes running and their safety is paramount. So the company introduced a 'Robbery and Asset Protection Programme' concerning the basic principles of premises protection; Deter … Delay … Detect … Detain; that would develop an effective method of 24 hour protection of the assets in the shop and staff behind the counters.

Ladbrokes Brief

Through the 'Robbery and Asset Protection Programme', Ladbrokes on-going policy of continual improvement, in partnership with its different departments, identified a number of requirements that would help achieve these basic principles and lead to better protection of their premises and staff.

This required the company's service provision partners to help develop a range of products and services that could meet these needs.

J Durrance held discussions with Ladbrokes, to recommend a range of physical security products that would help protect the premises out of hours, and staff and money while shops were open.

Solution

Ladbrokes needs were very specific, but also wide reaching - from a range of physical security products, including a new design security door, as part of the premises protection, to a support services, such as maintenance of products and emergency response for repairs, ensuring properties are not left vulnerable.

J Durrance held a forum with the security managers from Ladbrokes to identify the physical security needs for the shops. From this forum, J Durrance designed a new, innovative steel encased security door, fitted with an embedded multi-point function, panic device and steel lined frames that would provide level 5 security for the premises' rear access.

This new security door, together with a range of anti-bandit screens and aluminium doors were recommended as a solution for physical security products to the brief and initial discussion, whilst the J Durrance 24/7 emergency with 2 hour response service and reactive call-out ensures any Ladbrokes building is rapidly secured from potential danger.

Conclusion

Ladbrokes aim to establish a partnership in service delivery to protect the business, which must be accomplished with reasonable cost implications. J Durrance have understood this concept well, continuing to provide Ladbrokes an effective installation, on-going maintenance and emergency call-out service. The company has also been able to reduce the time from order to delivery and installation.
